Salsa originated in Cuba in the 1950s, and was greatly influenced by dancers and musicians in Puerto Rico, Miami, and New York. This dance has a little spice for everyone and will keep you coming back for more.

Merengue

Having arrived in the US in the early part of the 20th Century from the Dominican Republic, Merengue is playful and fun. The rhythm is the simplest of the dances making the footwork easy, and the arms and turns more complex. Merengue is the perfect dance to complement Salsa, and is a "must learn" if you plan on going out to a Latin club.

Bachata

Bachata is a Latin dance originating in the Dominican Republic. It is a romantic dance, as partners hold each other close and use the Cuban hip motion with a unique "pop" that makes Bachata both a club and exotic dance. So come learn to move your hips like you never thought possible!

Night Club Two-Step

Please be careful not to confuse this dance with the Texas Two-Step, which is the fast-traveling country-western dance made popular by the movie, Urban Cowboy. Night Club Two-Step uses slow, romantic music, such as "The Lady In Red" by Chris DeBurgh and "Amazed" by Lone Star. Night Club Two-Step is derived from Bolero and Rumba. The steps are similar to a slow Salsa, and this class is the perfect complement to our "Salsa Variations" class!

Hustle

Saturday Night Fever? Studio 54? These are the images that most people think about when they hear "Hustle." This 1970s dance became the most popular of the disco era. It's easy to learn and can be danced everywhere: ballrooms, nightclubs, Latin clubs, parties, and wedding receptions. Let the groovy disco sounds take you back to the 70s.
